A Teen’s Deadly Mistake: DUI Charges Loom in Hollywood Crash

A 17-year-old girl has been charged with felony DUI resulting in death after a fatal head-on collision in Hollywood, South Carolina on July 16.

According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, Paige Marie Postell of Ravenel was driving a Chevrolet sedan that crossed the center line and crashed into a Ford sedan driven by 60-year-old Francene Gibbs of Hollywood. The accident occurred around 7:30am on Highway 174 near Toogoogdoo Road.

Gibbs tragically died from injuries sustained in the crash. Four other people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

After the accident, officials administered a SLED blood test on Postell at the hospital. Results showed her blood alcohol level was 0.099 and she had 6.2 nanograms of THC in her system at the time.

Postell, who is only 17, now faces the serious charge of felony DUI resulting in death for her role in the deadly head-on collision that killed Gibbs. The sheriff’s office said the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
