The Atwater Police Department said officers arriving on scene found two vehicles, a white sedan and a silver sedan, involved in the devastating crash. Two passengers in one of the cars – 26-year-old Joshua Hitto of Stockton and an 8-year-old female – sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the site.
Investigators are actively working to determine the circumstances and cause of the crash, including whether drugs or alcohol were factors. The identities of the two victims have not been released.
