Heartbreak on Wheels: Community Grieves for Teens Lost in South Elgin Car Crash

A tragic car crash in South Elgin, Illinois on Thursday morning claimed the lives of two South Elgin High School students. According to police, the fatal collision occurred at 7 a.m. at the intersection of Illinois Route 25 and Keynon Road, located just east of the school.

The incident involved a Honda Civic with students inside and a semi-truck. One student passenger of the Civic died at the scene while a second student passed away after being transported to the hospital.

The Civic driver and one other passenger were hospitalized along with the semi-truck driver. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

In response, District U-46 activated a crisis team at South Elgin High School to support the grieving school community.
