A Daphne, Alabama man has been arrested on drunk driving and drug charges after crashing his car outside a motel early Sunday morning.
59-year-old William Wesley Jr. of Orange Beach was allegedly intoxicated when he wrecked the vehicle on U.S. 98 in Daphne according to police. Upon searching Wesley’s car, investigators uncovered nearly 2 ounces of methamphetamine.
In addition to DUI, Wesley has been charged with felony drug trafficking and possession of paraphernalia based on the significant quantity of meth in the vehicle.
The sizeable drug stash found in the car suggests Wesley may have been under the influence of more than just alcohol at the time of the motels crash.
Authorities continue investigating the impaired driving incident just outside a populated motel. For now, Wesley faces serious accusations that could carry years behind bars if convicted.
The troubling case highlights the plague of intoxicated drivers endangering lives throughout the state. Police hope their strong response sends a stern warning as traffic fatalities continue mounting.
