A single-vehicle crash in Philadelphia’s Northern Liberties neighborhood on Thursday evening left one man dead and another person critically injured.
The tragic incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Spring Garden Street. According to police, a vehicle with a driver and two passengers lost control and crashed into a construction zone in the area.
A 58-year-old male passenger died as a result of the devastating collision according to officials. The identity of the deceased victim has not been released.
Another 69-year-old male passenger was listed in critical condition following the wreck. The status of the driver was not provided.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the driver losing control and how the vehicle ended up careening into the construction site. The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash remain under active investigation.
