Thankfully Barrie Police said no serious injuries have been reported at this time. Bayfield Street remains closed between Livingstone and Carson as crews clear debris and damaged cars from the roadway.

While the cause is still under investigation, the startling scene left behind makes it clear the collision could have been far more tragic. As investigators work to understand how such a devastating crash happened, the community is relieved more lives were not affected.

The police’s collision reconstruction team will examine the circumstances that led to the violent intersection wreck during the morning commute hour. For now, the focus is on reopening roads and accounting for all those involved in the shocking three-vehicle pileup.
