A pedestrian was tragically killed after being struck by a vehicle along Lougheed Highway in Mission, British Columbia late Thursday night.

RCMP said the fatal collision occurred just before 9:35 p.m. in the 32000 block of Lougheed Highway. Responding officers arrived to find the male victim with critical injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, he sadly passed away at the scene.
The driver remained at the crash site and is cooperating fully with investigators, police said. Impairment has been ruled out as a factor for either party. The deceased’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
A section of Lougheed Highway’s eastbound lane had to be shut down for several hours as collision reconstruction teams examined the disturbing scene. The Integrated Collision and Reconstruction Service is leading the ongoing investigation.
While the circumstances remain under review, the loss of life has shaken the community. On what began as an ordinary Thursday night, another family is left grappling with unimaginable grief in the aftermath of an abrupt tragedy. Their loved one will not be returning home.
