Louisville, KY – A deadly wrong-way crash occurred early Sunday morning on Interstate 265 near Bardstown Road, leaving one person dead.

Around 5 a.m., a passenger vehicle driving eastbound in the westbound lanes collided head-on with a box truck, according to Louisville Metro Police.
The passenger vehicle caught fire upon impact. Its driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the box truck operator was uninjured.
It’s unclear if there were additional passengers in the at-fault vehicle. The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating the fatal crash.
I-265 was closed for several hours due to the collision. The identity of the deceased and events leading up to the wrong-way accident have not yet been released as police continue to investigate.
