A fatal crash involving a pickup truck and a school bus carrying members of a North Dakota high school volleyball team occurred on Thursday, September 14th. The collision took place at an intersection in Nelson County, located about 130 miles northwest of Fargo.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a pickup truck driver died at the scene of the crash. The driver’s name has not been released as of Friday, September 15th.
The school bus was transporting players from the Hatton-Northwood volleyball team to an away game against Nelson County. There were 25 students on the bus at the time.
Multiple injuries were reported, with an unknown number of students taken to a Grand Forks hospital for treatment. One student’s mother stated on Facebook that her daughter received 19 stitches on her face and had cuts on her leg, but was otherwise okay.
The Northwood School District Superintendent characterized the students as “very fortunate” considering the circumstances. The mother of one student called the Hatton-Northwood players “angels” who were being watched over. The Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the collision.
