A two-vehicle crash in Isle of Wight County, Virginia on September 9th has resulted in the death of an 80-year-old woman over a week after the collision occurred.

According to Virginia State Police, the accident happened around 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Route 10 and Gumwood Drive. An Oldsmobile Bravada driven by 81-year-old Robert Bryant entered the intersection and pulled into the path of an oncoming Chevrolet Suburban.
The Suburban, driven by 33-year-old Catrelle Auvil, was unable to avoid hitting the Oldsmobile. Both Bryant and his 80-year-old passenger Betty Bryant were seriously injured and taken to hospitals. Betty Bryant later passed away at Riverside Hospital from her injuries.
Robert Bryant and Catrelle Auvil both sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police report that the Bryants were wearing seatbelts but Auvil was not.
Charges are still pending as state police continue investigating the crash.
