A 12-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter in Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia.

The incident occurred around 5:10 pm on Sunday evening along David Low Way in the coastal town. According to Queensland Police, the boy was hit by a Mazda B2600 utility truck as it was traveling along the roadway.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after and the child was airlifted to Queensland Children’s Hospital in very serious condition.
The 27-year-old male driver of the Mazda, from Bli Bli, was uninjured in the crash. He is cooperating with investigators and police say their forensic crash unit is looking into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Authorities are appealing to the public for any information, CCTV footage, or dashcam video that may assist the ongoing investigation into the tragic incident.
The young boy remains in critical condition as doctors treat his life-threatening injuries sustained after being struck by the vehicle along David Low Way. Police are working to piece together the events leading up to the crash which has left a child fighting for his life.
