Emergency crews carried out a rescue operation after a serious truck and car collision in northern New South Wales early Wednesday morning.

The two-vehicle accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on the Bruxner Highway near the town of South Gundurimba according to Fire and Rescue NSW. A car and truck crashed at the scene.
Rescue workers rushed to free and transport any injured occupants to the hospital after the impact. The extent of the injuries is not yet known.
The collision forced the shutdown of the Bruxner Highway as crews cleared debris and wreckage from the roadway. Traffic was disrupted for a period before the highway fully reopened.
Investigations into the cause of the truck and car crash are still underway. Local authorities have not provided details on what led to the accident which left twisted metal and disrupted lives in its wake on Wednesday morning. For now, the focus remains on those injured and supporting all affected.
