Union County, NJ – A 34-year-old man from Jersey City was killed in a multi-vehicle collision while riding an electric bicycle on Interstate 78 in Union County, New Jersey early Monday morning.

The fatal crash occurred around 6:10 a.m., involving the victim’s Zugo E-bike, a Ford pickup truck, and a Mazda passenger vehicle all traveling westbound on I-78, police said.
The bicyclist, identified as Irving Batista, was initially struck by the truck and then hit again by the Mazda. He died at the scene.
Authorities have offered condolences to Batista’s family and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic multi-vehicle accident that claimed his life.
