A fatal car crash occurred early Sunday morning on the Gene Snyder Freeway in Louisville, Kentucky, according to police. Around 3 a.m., a pickup truck with two occupants was traveling eastbound when the driver lost control for unknown reasons.

The truck struck an unoccupied vehicle parked in the emergency lane, killing the passenger of the pickup on impact. First responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup was rushed to University Hospital with serious injuries by EMS crews. Their current condition is unknown.
Louisville Metro Police have shut down all eastbound lanes of the Gene Snyder near Beulah Church as they investigate the circumstances of the crash and clear debris.
The identities of the deceased passenger and injured driver have not been released. LMPD is still determining the factors that caused the driver to lose control, resulting in the pickup colliding with the empty parked vehicle and claiming the life of the passenger early Sunday morning.
