A tragic car accident in New South Wales has claimed the life of an elderly woman passenger. On Tuesday morning around 11:30 a.m., a car veered off the road and struck a tree on Kywong-Howlong Road in the small town of Brockelsby, located 45km northwest of Albury.

An 80-year-old female passenger sadly died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Another 71-year-old woman who was also a rear seat passenger was airlifted in critical condition to the Alfred Hospital for treatment.
The 70-year-old male driver of the vehicle was transported to Albury Base Hospital in stable condition. An investigation into the circumstances of the accident is currently underway by New South Wales Police, who have established a crime scene.
Kywong-Howlong Road has been closed between Brockelsby and Walbundrie with diversions in place for the time being. A report will be prepared for the coroner. This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the need for safe driving practices.
