A beloved student and athlete was tragically killed in a fiery car crash in Marietta, Georgia on Monday evening. 16-year-old Liv Teverino, a junior at Marietta High School, died when her 2016 Volvo left the road, struck a tree, and caught fire.

The crash occurred just after 5:30 p.m., quickly engulfing Teverino’s vehicle and surrounding areas in flames. Officers and firefighters arrived to find the fire had spread, but were unable to save Teverino.
Superintendent Grant Rivera announced Teverino’s passing in a statement, praising her as a scholar, athlete, and community leader. She was part of the International Baccalaureate program and the state champion cross-country team at Marietta High, where she excelled in everything she pursued.
On Tuesday morning, grief-stricken students and community members gathered to mourn and pay tribute to Teverino’s life and accomplishments. Her parking spot at school was filled with heartfelt messages and flowers. More flowers were left at the crash site.
The Marietta Selective Traffic Enforcement Program is investigating the circumstances around the devastating accident and encouraging anyone with information to contact them.
Teverino’s sudden loss at such a young age has shaken the Marietta community. But her spirit, excellence and zest for life will remain an inspiration.
