On Wednesday night in Hartford, Connecticut, tragedy struck as a police officer lost their life and another was injured in a car crash. Details are still emerging, but authorities have reported that the accident involved a police cruiser and another vehicle, located just west of downtown Hartford.
At this point, it’s unclear why the person in the other vehicle was taken into custody, what led to the crash, or whether the officers were pursuing the vehicle.
The injured officer is currently in stable condition, although they are being closely monitored at a nearby hospital. The police cruiser sustained significant damage to its passenger side.
In a somber early morning procession, fellow officers paid their respects by accompanying the deceased officer’s body from the hospital to the chief medical examiner’s office in Farmington.
As of now, the names of the officers involved and the individual in custody have not been disclosed. Police authorities are expected to provide more information regarding this tragic incident later today.
