A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to a deadly hit-and-run collision in Mississauga, Ontario, according to Peel Regional Police.

Police said on August 23 around 3:15 a.m., officers responded to a crash involving a blue Mazda on Airport Road near Morningstar Drive. A 22-year-old female cyclist headed northbound was struck by the vehicle, which then fled the scene.

The victim, identified by police as a Mississauga woman who was an exchange student who had been in Canada for four months, was pronounced dead at the site of the collision.

On Thursday, a 26-year-old suspect was taken into custody and charged with dangerous operation causing death, failure to stop after an accident causing death, flight from a peace officer, and driving with an improper license.
