Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to captivate enthusiasts with a plethora of exciting offerings, prominently featuring the eagerly anticipated all-electric rendition of its renowned Thar SUV, aptly named ‘Thar. e,’ and the captivating concept pickup christened the ‘Global PikUp Vision.’ This remarkable unveiling is set to unfold at the much-awaited FutureScape event, aligning with the country’s 77th Independence Day celebrations.
Thar Electric
Last month, the manufacturer tantalizingly teased the forthcoming all-electric iteration of the Thar, igniting curiosity. With promising prospects, this electrified SUV is poised to embrace a range of cutting-edge features, aimed at enhancing its prowess as an off-road marvel. While specific details about the EV remain scant, it is speculated to harness a dual motor setup—one affixed to each front and rear axle—potentially ushering in remarkable 4WD/AWD capabilities.
To accommodate a substantial battery pack, the possibility of utilizing the repurposed platform from the internal combustion engine (ICE) Thar looms large. Aesthetic enhancements are also on the horizon, with Thar Electric expected to incorporate cosmetic upgrades while preserving the distinctive design language. A glimpse of this transformation is evident in the teaser, showcasing squarish LED lamps adorned with rounded-off borders.
Global PikUp Vision
Mahindra’s inventive ‘Global PikUp Vision’ concept promises a glimpse into the company’s future aspirations for its pickup truck lineup. Envisaged to draw inspiration from the platform of its counterpart, the ScorpioN, this forthcoming truck is poised to vie with illustrious contenders such as the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross, signifying Mahindra’s intent to leave a lasting impression in the segment.
The revelation of the all-electric Thar marks a significant stride for Mahindra, showcasing its commitment to expanding its electric vehicle portfolio and establishing a formidable global presence in the electric vehicle domain. Notably, the company had underscored its dedication by committing an investment of Rs 3,000 crore in the electric vehicle business by 2024.
