Teens Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Collision in Whitby, Charges Filed

Two Toronto teens have been charged after an alleged stolen vehicle crashed in Whitby, Ontario on Wednesday. Durham Regional Police said they received a report around 1:30pm of a single-vehicle collision involving a stolen Honda Pilot SUV at Fallingbrook Street and Taunton Road.

Police said several occupants of the crashed vehicle fled the scene into a nearby neighborhood. With assistance from the K9 unit, officers arrested a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy.

The identities of the minors cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Both were charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and released on undertakings.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident or the alleged auto theft to contact police or Crime Stoppers. The events leading up to the dramatic crash remain under investigation.
