Rainy-Day Crash Claims Life: 57-Year-Old Man’s Tragic Death Near Salisbury

A 57-year-old man has died following a head-on collision near Salisbury, New Brunswick during rainy weather on Wednesday.

RCMP says the fatal crash occurred around 5 p.m. on Homestead Road in Second North River. A car traveling west appears to have crossed the center line and struck an oncoming pickup truck, according to police.

Both drivers, the sole occupants of their respective vehicles, were transported to hospital after the accident. The 57-year-old male driver of the pickup, from The Glades just outside Petitcodiac, later succumbed to his injuries. The other driver sustained non-life-threatening wounds.

Investigators believe wet road conditions from heavy rainfall may have been a factor in the tragic crash. The New Brunswick Coroner’s Office is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been publicly released. Police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the head-on collision on the rain-slicked road that claimed a life.
