A deadly multi-vehicle collision has led to the closure of an A-road in Gloucestershire. The A46 in both directions near Tewkesbury has been shut down between junction nine of the M5 and the A435 for Teddington.
The closure was enacted after a fatal crash involving multiple vehicles occurred on the A46. Emergency responders including Gloucestershire Police are currently at the scene addressing the incident.
According to an update from National Highways at around 5PM local time, the A46 will likely remain closed throughout the evening due to the severity of the collision.
West Mercia Police is advising motorists to avoid the area surrounding the A46 while emergency teams work to clear the wreckage and investigate the circumstances of the tragic crash. Drivers planning to travel through this particular section of Gloucestershire should expect major delays and seek alternate routes.
