Oceanside, British Columbia – A devastating head-on collision on a Friday afternoon has resulted in the loss of a 69-year-old Parksville resident. The Oceanside RCMP is now actively investigating this heart-wrenching incident.

The fateful incident unfolded around 4 p.m., drawing the attention of authorities to the intersection of Dunbar Way and the Alberni Highway. This location became the scene of a tragic two-vehicle collision.
Preliminary investigations by law enforcement indicate that an SUV, for reasons yet to be determined, veered into the oncoming lane, leading to a catastrophic head-on collision with a garbage truck.
Regrettably, the driver and sole occupant of the SUV, a 69-year-old Parksville man, was found deceased at the crash site.
In a silver lining amidst the tragedy, the driver of the garbage truck emerged from the collision without serious injuries, according to the police report.
Currently, the Oceanside municipal traffic unit and the RCMP collision analysis and reconstruction service are dedicated to unraveling the circumstances that led to this fatal crash. In parallel, the BC Coroners Service has initiated its own investigation to shed further light on the incident.
