An Ogdensburg, New York man has been arrested and charged with felony assault after allegedly striking a female pedestrian with his vehicle on Sunday morning.

According to New York State Police, 24-year-old Sean M. Montalvo now faces one count of Assault in the 1st Degree, a Class B felony, following the incident on Middle Road in Oswegatchie.
Police say a 23-year-old woman was transported to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center before being transferred to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with life-threatening injuries after being hit by Montalvo’s vehicle.
Montalvo was arraigned in Canton Town Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
The State Police Forensic Identification Unit is currently executing multiple search warrants related to the ongoing investigation.
The case remains under active investigation by New York State Police in conjunction with the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities say the events leading up to the collision that left the female victim with critical injuries are still under investigation. Montalvo now faces a felony assault charge for his alleged actions in the disturbing incident.
