BRUSSELS – Professional cyclist Nathan van Hooydonck was hospitalized following a car accident on Tuesday after he became unwell while driving, his team Jumbo-Visma has confirmed.
The 27-year-old Belgian rider was involved in a collision while driving his vehicle. He was transported to an unspecified hospital undergoing medical examinations and receiving care.
Jumbo-Visma has not verified early reports that van Hooydonck was in critical condition. The team said he is getting good medical treatment but his exact condition is unknown.
Van Hooydonck has been part of Jumbo-Visma since 2021 and is an important support rider for stars Wout van Aert and Primoz Roglic.
