Lakeland, FL – A mother and two of her children were killed in a devastating two-car collision Monday evening on Kathleen Road in Lakeland.

The fatal crash occurred around 7:46 p.m. when a northbound Dodge Challenger driven by 20-year-old Lakeland resident Jeremiah Rivera collided with a southbound Cadillac SUV that was attempting a left turn onto Quincy Road.
The Cadillac, driven by 30-year-old Jeremy Felton, spun and struck a utility pole after the impact. Killed in the crash were the front passenger Mavaria Carter, 33, her 6-year-old daughter, and her 14-year-old son.
Felton and a 14-year-old girl were ejected and hospitalized in critical condition. Rivera was taken to a hospital in stable condition. Neither driver nor the three children in the Cadillac were wearing seatbelts, according to police.
Carter was the sister of driver Felton. The two injured children were also family members.
Lakeland Police say their fatal accident investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators.
