A deadly multi-vehicle crash in Midland, North Carolina during Wednesday’s morning commute left three people dead and four others injured. The accident occurred on Highway 24/27 near Bethel School Road, according to the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office.

Midland Fire and Rescue said a total of six patients were treated following the collision. All occupants had to be extricated from the wrecked vehicles. Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others were transported to area hospitals for treatment of unknown injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the identities or ages of those involved as they continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident. Heavy traffic delays are expected for several hours as the highway remains completely shut down.
Multiple local fire departments and medical helicopters responded to the deadly crash site, including Allen Volunteer Fire, West Stanly Fire and Midland Fire and Rescue.
