DUI Charges Filed: Reno Woman Arrested After Fatal Crash Involving Pedestrian

and killed a pedestrian with her vehicle before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred on August 12th around 2 p.m. near the Tamarack Casino on South Virginia Street. According to Nevada State Police, a 2011 Honda CR-V driving north entered the shoulder and hit a man also walking north.

The victim was identified as 32-year-old Jarod Clinton Taylor of Las Vegas, who died at the scene from his injuries. The Honda driver fled following the collision.

An investigation led to the arrest of 52-year-old Reno resident Debra Ann Thornton as the suspected driver. Authorities believe impairment was a factor in the crash. Thornton was booked into Washoe County Jail on charges related to the fatal hit-and-run.

The tragic incident remains under investigation by police. They are working to determine all factors that led to the pedestrian being struck and the driver subsequently fleeing.
