Tragedy Strikes: Fatal Collision Takes a Life in the Cariboo

A fatal traffic accident occurred Friday evening around 6 p.m. on Highway 97 south of Williams Lake, British Columbia, according to RCMP.

A collision between a motorcycle and an SUV happened at the intersection with Horsefly/Likely Road.

Collision in the Cariboo claims a life

The 60-year-old male motorcycle driver died at the scene of the crash. The SUV driver sustained only minor injuries.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the collision, police said.

Highway 97 was closed for approximately 6 hours during investigation and cleanup efforts before reopening.

The cause of the fatal motorcycle versus SUV accident remains under investigation by authorities. The identity of the deceased motorcycle operator has not been released at this time.
