One Dead in Highway Crash North of Toronto

A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred in East Gwillimbury, Ontario early Thursday morning, according to York Regional Police. At approximately 4:40 a.m., police responded to the accident on David Drive between Highway 48 and York Durham Line.

Authorities say the driver collided with a pole, which caught fire. When officers arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. One occupant was found deceased inside the burnt vehicle.
