Breaking News: Four Hospitalized in Car Crash into Collapsed Bridge

Clarks Summit, PA – Four people were hospitalized, one critically, after their vehicle struck a collapsed bridge in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania on Saturday night, September 9.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on Falls Road when the car hit the abutment of a bridge near Eckels Farm that had collapsed amid severe thunderstorms.

The occupants – John Polak, Geena DiMattia, Rebecca Zielen, and Joe Colangelo – were all transported to the hospital following the accident.

Colangelo was listed in critical condition in the ICU while Polak and DiMattia were in stable condition in intensive care as well. Zielen was also hospitalized in stable condition.

The bridge collapse and extent of the damage was obscured by the storm at the time of the crash, according to friends and family. An investigation into the circumstances of the incident remains ongoing.
